NOTIFICATION OF ESSENTIAL SAFETY MAINTENANCE WORKS

A42 J11 to M1 (Finger Farm Roundabout) – both directions

I am writing to let you know that we will be carrying out essential safety maintenance works on the A42 J11 to M1 (Finger Farm roundabout) in both directions.

During the works, Highways England will: • upgrade the vehicle restraint system Once complete, these works will improve road safety.

Work is due to start on Monday 27 July 2020 and is scheduled for completion by Friday 09 October 2020.

To minimise inconvenience and disruption to road users, work will take place overnight from Monday to Friday between 8:00pm and 6am.

Please note that all our planned roadworks may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

To maintain a safe environment for workforce and road users, there will need to be 2 lane closures in both directions whilst work takes place. Closures will be in phases and which will start the first phase at M1 (Finger Farm roundabout). Both carriageways will be open as usual outside of working times.

• The work will be carried out in phases under back to back lane 2 closures with a 50mph speed restriction for road worker safety during the night. Laybys within each phased section will be closed from 13.00 hours through to the end of each night shift.

• During the first phase, the southbound link road from Finger Farm Roundabout onto the A42 will need to be closed for approximately 2 to 3 weeks to carry out essential barrier and terminal end upgrades. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place during this phase of the works.
