Breedon on the Hill Flood Modelling Study

Breedon on the Hill Flood Modelling Study

The Council presented an update on the flood modelling study to the Parish Council and a representative of the Flood Wardens on 20th April 2020 via a skype conference presentation. At this presentation, the work completed to date, the challenges faced, and the way forward were all discussed. Following this discussion, the Council made a number of further improvements to the flood model in order to fully explore ways of reducing flood risk in the village. A progress update was provided to the same group on 3rd June 2020.

To date, the study has revealed that no single measure in isolation can prevent flooding of the village, because of the numerous sources of flood water. However, when a combination of measures are tested together (including the proposed attenuation by the Cameron Homes development), there is a significant reduction in overall flood risk. The Council intend to present the findings of the options available to the community at the next Parish Council meeting on 6th July 2020.

The Council will continue to provide a monthly update ahead of future Parish Council meetings until such time that a public report is made available. It is still anticipated that this report will be published in Summer 2020.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact the Parish Council directly.
