Breedon Play Area - Update!

Breedon Play Area - Update!

Breedon on the Hill
Play Area

Following complaints from local families about the current state of the equipment, Breedon on the Hill Parish Council identified a need for improvements to the only play area in the parish, which includes the three villages of Breedon, Tonge and Wilson.

The PC intend to install equipment in order to target this audience as the play area is adjacent to the local primary school, who have stated that they would greatly benefit from this development and

would encourage pupils to use it on a daily basis. The Parish Council, school governors and Breedon Primary School have been working in partnership to create a park with equipment children will want to explore. Our aim, as a community, is to create an area where young children can play safely and happily and develop their skills and widen their experiences. This will support and strengthen our local community as a whole.

Exercise is fundamental to improve the health and well-being of children and young people. Helping all children to enjoy an hour of physical activity every day is very important; this new play area will create opportunities that encourage exercise and body movements that help children to enjoy exercise whilst playing. We have left plenty of space between pieces of equipment to enable the children to run around freely, helping to improve their cardio-vascular fitness as well as strength from the new pieces of equipment.

Play Equipment doesn't come cheap; the PC applied for a grant from the BIG Lottery Fund in September 2018 and early this year it was told it had been successful in it's bid for £10,000! The Parish Council would like to say a massive thank you to the BIG Lottery - this is a HUGE help towards the equipment! It is hoped that the new play area will be open Summer 2019!
