Be the voice of your community – Prospective Candidate Event – May 2019.

Be the voice of your community – Prospective Candidate Event – May 2019.

Be the Voice of Your Community aims to highlight the responsibilities and challenges of representing people in your communities. Being a councillor means you can play a part in shaping those services and make a difference to people's lives.

It's also about representing residents' views on a variety of issues and being a real voice for the community.

I would encourage people to attend one of the events being held to find out more about being a councillor.

Be the Voice of Your Community is part of a nationwide initiative to encourage potential community leaders in standing as a councillor.

The events are designed to help people find out what it takes to become a local councillor and will cover the nomination process and standing for election, the role of a councillor and what support is available, including allowances and training.

The event is to be held on Saturday, November 17, 10am – 12pm, Charnwood Borough Council - Council Offices, Southfield Road, LE11 2TX.

For further information or to book your place please call 01530 454511 or email: melanie.long@nwleicestershire.gov.uk.
